Mime & Physical Theatre Classes

SPRING 2026 Class for Ages 9-18 (Adult class TBA)

Explore the unspoken world of mime, an art form that is as versatile as it is energetic and as challenging as it is dramatic. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn ”the robot,” step into slow motion, transform into stylized characters,  escape being trapped in an invisible box, & much more!  Students will have the opportunity to perform in whiteface at Grove City Strawberry Days and perform with an international mime artist in a Physical Theatre show! Class taught by professionally trained mimes and physical theatre artists whose teachers studied under the father of modern mime, Marcel Marceau.

Enjoy performing illusions used in street mime (The wall, the ball, the box, the rope, etc.)

  • Discover how to create your own illusions through principles of invisible object identification

  • Study the basics of constructing powerful solo and group statues and experiment with different ways of presentation and transition – including using background music, silence, and narrated story.

  • Learn hand designs that will increase clarity and creativity in performance

  • Explore rhythms in movement

  • And so much more!

  • Students may opt out of the physical theatre show and/or Strawberry Days if they just want to come and learn, but full participation is recommended if they want the maximum experience!
